The British Independent Motor Trade Association (BIMTA)is the only official UK trade body established solely to represent the vehicle import industry in the UK. Our members both import and export thousands of vehicles each year. We are recognised by the UK Government and its agencies, including the Department of Transport and HM Revenue and Customs, as the definitive \'voice\' of the independent sector. We have a network of around a hundred non-franchised vehicle dealerships and supporting services - all of whom sign up to a code of professional conduct which means you can buy from them in confidence. We have famously led the campaign to regularise car prices between the UK and mainland Europe (similar to the current issues experienced by USA/Canada) and have been instrumental in working with Government on national legislation in the matters of homologation and EEC customs taxation.
